Farnham Townhouse

2023

To honour the homes original character while reimagining it for contemporary family living.

Set on a prominent town centre street, this project presented an opportunity to sensitively reinterpret a classic Edwardian terrace house. Built in 1910, the property bore many of the era’s architectural hallmarks—bay windows, high ceilings, and ornate cornicing but had fallen into a state of disrepair.

The ambition was to restore the property’s historic soul, while crafting an interior experience defined by elegant simplicity, light, and considered functionality.

At the heart of the design was a belief in quiet transformation; removing what is unnecessary, enhancing what is essential. The front façade remained largely untouched, while a large rear extension was introduced to provide a light and airy kitchen \ dining area, merging heritage with confident modernity.

Internally, the layout was restructured to introduce flow and clarity. A once-compartmentalised ground floor was opened into a sequence of living spaces, unified by continuous timber flooring, bespoke plaster mouldings, and finely detailed cabinetry.
